I've been ill and crap...
Dec. 20th, 2007 08:21 pmSo a bit rubbish lately really, having not posted for a while. Riftworld was fun, despite my first ever character death. For more info : (In true laziness style this is a copy and paste of my forum post, so if you've read that already please ignore)
Well that was fun!! Utter joy that I really enjoyed being a combat wombat despite initial trepidations.
IC Highlights :
- Shooting things! In the head! Lots!
- The start of the game was great, we had team spirit from the off
- The irony of being relieved from my guard post by Jigs on Friday night, and in the time it took me to walk into the kitchen and made a cup of tea he was dead. (Sorry!)
- The reprieve from guilt when he wasn't dead after all
- Rescuing Ketta on Saturday morning was marvelous fun, especially since we came back with everyone alive despite the disorganisation!
- Getting kidnapped and tied to a tree (seriously)
- Amusing several of the crew by being extremely cheerful about being tied up, including voluntarily putting my arms inside the rope (Mr Parr your lashing people to trees requires practice!)
- Legging it back to the base so fast that my acting injured became more plausible
- The people healing me were awesome, that along with Gin ordering me not to die was a very immersive experience.
- My first ever real IC tears when I realised Aela had died saving me
- Being in the building with only 2 other people when attacked by half a dozen Twisted and we downed them all without taking damage!
- Hurtling about the field several times with a spear on Sunday morning
- The Darker Angel attack later on Sunday really got the adrenalin going!
IC Lowlights:
- Getting all my guns nicked
- Dying!
- 2nd character nearly breaking the shortest lived character record by getting shot after 10 seconds!
OOC Highlights
- Doom Cake!
- The fact that the word "muff" is still guaranteed to make Kate corpse!
- Catching up with people, especially first proper OOC chats with Sarah and David.
- Meeting new people
- Getting to froth at LARP virgins
- Being fed very yummy croissant by the good Doctor
- Mop Wars!!
OOC Lowlights :
- Kate's mishap - Feel better!!
- Freezing despite 7 layers! Ah well that'll teach me to be cold blooded...
In other news I've started at my new job, but haven't really had chance to get stuck in yet and barring miracles of the IT department actually pulling their bloody fingers out and sorting our new logins I will not be back in until after New Year. So more news to come once I have it...
This last weekend we had a marvelous foray to Leeds, getting to enjoy the company of
midnightoak,
lucian_albrecht,
psion_x,
lady_pyra,
liz_ddraig,
ranovala and
pi_per for a medieval banquet which turned into a giggly, girly Di Canto reunion. For photos see here http://www.flickr.com/photos/choccoweeble/ and here http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=10663&id=618983485 .
If visiting Flickr you will also see the results of my latest bizarre project "Hat-tastic". (Probably best not to ask).
This was followed up by a lovely trip to Wendy House for some serious Rocking like Badgers, and also nice to run into
maviscruet for a bop.
Other than that I have mainly been ill which is the reason I haven't updated lately. Annoying as I don't tend to be ill very often, but after over a week I'm still barking like a dog, grr...
So Chrimbo beckons and we are off to the parental-units, as my brother is home for Christmas for the first time in five years. So that should be fun and entertaining.
Then off to Birmingham for New Year which should be even more entertaining... comprising of, amongst other things, a bash at the residence of
areteus and
sarahlascelles. Woot!!
