Well Christmas was quiet but enjoyable. It was nice to spend some time with my brother and his girlfriend which is a rare event these days. Also great to finally get hold of Season 3 of Lost and the third part of Kristen Britain's "Green Rider" trilogy, which has been a long time coming.

Then on returning to Chester on Boxing Day, proceeded to spend the next 2 days watching the whole of said Lost boxset. Contrary to popular opinion that it went downhill, I really enjoyed it, but then I do tend to have interesting opinions... Did, however, have a panic moment and had to go and check that there definitely was going to be a Season 4 after seeing the ending, which could have been THE END and if so would have been >(shitness of ending of Xena + shitness of ending of Angel) x 15. So relief ensued.

Saturday held an amusing day of covering myself in paint at the new abode of [livejournal.com profile] kardrath and [livejournal.com profile] wiserabbit. Of course everyone else was painting the walls and/or attempting to fix the electrics. But it was fun, and conversation increasingly descended into smut, which seems to be a theme of our recent trips to Manchester... Anyway this weekend coming will be the housewarming and I'm pretty sure we will manage to lower the tone even further.

Then I scooted back to Chester, leaving [livejournal.com profile] shazrasha to enjoy the rest of the weekend and jumped into early bed. Sunday was up at a sensible hour and throw things into a bag in time to catch a 9:25 train to Birmingham, in order to spend 2 lovely days watching DVDs, eating curry and petting rats with [livejournal.com profile] kneeshooter. In fact the DVD list was quite long and varied, encompassing The Muppet Show, Unbreakable, Hero, Children of Men, Kung Fu Hustle, Brotherhood of the Wolf and probably some others that have slipped my memory. Must award myself culture points for 2 of the above 6 being subtitled.

Then on to [livejournal.com profile] areteus and [livejournal.com profile] sarahlascelles New Year bash which was most enjoyable, nice to see quite a few people - particularly [livejournal.com profile] trevor_davies and [livejournal.com profile] ephrael who I haven't seen since Artificer, meeting Trevor's lovely wife Lesley, and [livejournal.com profile] redhillian who I haven't met OOC except for when he checked my arm out at Serenity. Rather too much mead and port apparently preceded some interesting boob conversation and groping, which is probably the best behaved I've been whilst that drunk for quite some while (no really). This then culminated in me stating my New Year's resolution was "to have more sex" which seemed very popular and was taken on board by so many other people it seemed no others were required.

Monday was a really nice lazy day of chatting and being thoroughly entertained by David and Sarah's dog Eddie, who is ace. It was also very nice to see Chiara who popped in for a short visit with Morgan. Then home, and back to work today to discover I actually finally have computer access. Huzzah!!

So that pretty much concludes the looking back, and now to the forward. These are too general to really call resolutions, but they are goals of a kind :

1. Be less of a lazy arse. This will encompass being tidier, doing more of the things I say I'm going to do, and wasting less of my life on Facebook as a few examples

2. Get a permanent job. Hopefully at the company I'm with, now I actually have the tools to do my job and can prove myself invaluable, but if not something else I will enjoy.

3. LARP. (lots)

4. Make some of my own larp kit. Then [livejournal.com profile] shazrasha will have more chance of doing all the stuff that she has planned.

5. Get a lot more done on my CIMA course. Even though I have already told myself that Larp is a priority, as happiness is surely what life is all about, this has to come second on the list. And is also likely to assist with 2.

6. Work on my photography. Now I have a really good camera with all the kit I need I'm taking a lot more pictures and want to improve.

7. Would like to have a house with [livejournal.com profile] shazrasha. Not sure how realistic this is, as a lot depends on what the housing market does and also on 2.

8. Read more books and do some bloody writing. This will be facilitated by 1.

9. Stop buying video games until I've finished a significant number of the bazillions I already have.

10. Most of all have lots of fun and follow my heart. I'm going to get all annoying and cliche here for a moment, but life is short and even though I don't believe in regrets (just learning experiences) if I'm going to have any, I'd rather regret things I have done than things I haven't done. Watch out world!!

I liked the end of Angel. But then I am always a fan of total party wipeouts...

The end of Heroes season 1 was worse, especially when you find out that pretty much everyone survives, yes even the one who blows up in a nuclear explosion... still enjoyable though.

But then I have a very high tolerance for shit...
